Five other ways to use Westlab Salts

Five other ways to use Westlab Salts

Salt bathing is a fantastic way to cleanse, replenish and re-charge, but have you tried using our salts in any of these other ways?

1. As a scalp exfoliant

Great for dry, flaky scalps - especially at this time of year with all the central heating. Simply mix some Westlab salt with your regular shampoo for a quick boost, or mix with conditioner and give yourself a luxurious exfoliating head massage. Rinse off to leave your head thoroughly cleansed and refreshed.

2. To help loosen splinters

Magnesium Sulphate (Epsom Salt) is renowned for drawing out impurities, which is why it's so great for detoxing. Magnesium Sulphate Paste is often used to help remove splinters from the skin. If you don't have any to hand, you can soak the area in an Epsom Salt bath for approx 20 minutes, and then you may find it much easier to remove the splinter afterwards.

When my children have splinters I soak a bandage in a warm Epsom salt solution as a full bath would be too strong for them, and then wrap it around the area for at least 10 minutes before I even attempt to approach them with the tweezers...it definitely seems to help.

3. As an 'on the go' body scrub

Body scrubs can be bulky to pack when travelling, so I always pack small pots of salts with me. Boots and other pharmacies tend to sell stacking travel pots, which are great as you can easily decant and take all three salts with you. When away I then mix some salt in with the hotel shower gel, and hey presto, silky smooth skin with nothing but hand luggage.

5. As a skin purifier

Pollution can leave your skin looking dull and tired. For a quick fix try dissolving 1 teaspoon of Himalayan salt in 15ml of water and applying this concentrated solution to your skin for 5-10 minutes before rinsing thoroughly. Your skin will have a healthy looking radiant glow which can last for days. Repeat once a week to help maintain healthy looking skin.

*Precautions: Avoid contact with eyes. If irritation occurs rinse immediately. If it persists seek medical attention.

5. To cleanse your home

Salt has been used for hundreds of years as a traditional cleanser for the home to remove negative or stagnant energy. It is thought that mixing together Himalayan Salt with Dead Sea Salt creates an even more purifying blend due to the combination of Sea Salt with Rock Salt. When your home feels in need of a cleanse you can try putting a few bowls of the salt mix in the areas you want to cleanse for 24 hours before discarding it - along with any negative energy it's absorbed from your home.
