REAL LIFE STORIES
Amy
Westlab Ambassador

Listen to the impact TSW has had on Amy and what has been the hardest part of her inspirational journey.

In this series, we are spotlighting the real-life stories of our skin-warriors and their incredible journeys of living with Eczema, Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW) & Psoriasis.

Can you tell us about your skin journey and why you wanted to share it?

I've had Eczema since I was a baby, and I've been going through TSW (Topical Steroid Withdrawal) since early January this year. TSW is not just a skin condition; it’s a complete blow to the entire system. It is an exhausting condition both physically, mentally, and emotionally. I wanted to share my skin story because I didn't want anybody to go through what I have been through, and if by sharing my journey and being vulnerable meant I would be able to help just one other person, it would be worth it.

What has been the hardest part of your skin journey?

The hardest part about my skin journey was going through TSW (Topical Steroid Withdrawal). Having had Eczema my entire life, I thought I'd be able to deal with anything skin-wise, but TSW is brutal. It goes way beyond just the skin. I have endured symptoms I never thought I would have to put my body through from swollen glands, the inability to regulate my body temperature, as well as an overwhelming bone deep itch, all of which took me to the lowest of lows both mentally and physically.

When did you first discover Westlab?

I first discovered Westlab back at the beginning of my journey in January when I was going through TSW. The brand was recommended to me by someone within the skin condition community and suggested I try the Dead Sea Bath Salts. After my first bath, I loved them, and the bath soon became the only place that I could find some comfort and relief for my dry, itchy, irritated skin. The Dead Sea Salts allowed my skin to feel supported and soothed and soon the bath became my safe haven.

What are your thoughts on the new Westlab Skin Repair Bath Salts?

My favourite thing about the Skin Repair Bath Salts is the combination of the Dead Sea Salts and the Oats. Together, it's just perfect. It allows my skin to feel refreshed and cleansed, but also soothed at the same time.

Why is it important to be a part of the Westlab campaign in raising awareness for people living with visible skin conditions?

I'm so excited to be part of this campaign with Westlab because a skin condition does not define you. I hope people see that I'm Amy. I'm kind, I'm caring, I'm fun, and this slightly different vessel is not what's important, it's what's inside. My advice to anyone out there is just know that you're not alone. There is a whole community out there waiting for you to reach out. So just do it. You've got this.
