Top Tips for a Simple & Natural Skincare Routine
If you have sensitive skin or you’ve simply found that your current routine isn’t really working for you, you might find that your skin becomes irritated, red, dry or itchy. It’s important that you’re able to find a set of products that help to alleviate any symptoms, not aggravate them.
In some cases, the simplest products can often be the easiest to use, but it’s important to remember that everyone is different, especially if you are prone to eczema or psoriasis. With that in mind, we offer some tips and advice to help you if you’re looking to try out a natural skincare routine.
Change your products gradually
If you are hoping to invest in new products to help look after your skin, it’s worth doing it slowly. Try changing one product at a time, as this will help your skin to adjust and you can see if there are any adverse effects.
For example, why not use our Himalayan bath salts in your next bath to see what effect it has on your skin? If you come out feeling beautifully cleansed and radiant, you could also use the Himalayan salt shower gel with it’s 97% naturally derived ingredients for gentle skin cleansing. Why not then progress to one of our 100% natural blends of Himalayan Salts with Epsom Salts and essential oils, such as Pink Gin.
Pay attention to the ingredients
If your skincare products have a long list of unpronounceable ingredients, investigate them a little further to make sure they’ll be kind to your skin and body. If you’re still not convinced, try looking for products that have less ingredients in them as well as ingredients you recognise.
For instance, our bath salts are made from 100% natural mineral salts with no added or hidden ingredients. Similarly, our Cleanse & Refresh bath salts are infused with only natural ingredients such as Pink Grapefruit, Seaweed and Lemongrass.
Find the right products for your skin concerns
With so many different skincare products out there, you can narrow it down by looking for products that are suited to your particular skin type or concern. If you have sensitive skin, this is particularly important. Natural ingredients could cause side effects as easily as chemical ones if they aren’t suited to your skin.
Look for products that have been dermatologically tested and are deemed suitable for your skin type, and do your research to discover which types of ingredients will be best suited to your skin concern, whether it’s redness, blemishes or dryness.
Use lukewarm water
Bathing or washing with hot water can strip your skin of its natural moisture, resulting in dry and irritated skin. Instead, try using lukewarm water and remember to pat your skin dry. This can also help to avoid any irritation.
Be sure to moisturise afterwards, as this will help to lock in any additional moisture your skin has absorbed during your shower, bath or when washing your face.
